Updated Radio Standards Notice released — what you need to know
Radio Spectrum Management (RSM) has released an updated Radio Standards Notice, setting out important changes that suppliers and users of radio products need to be aware of.

On 1 September 2025, we released an updated Radio Standards Notice. This is an important step forward in making sure New Zealand’s radio products meet modern compliance expectations.
This latest update introduces a range of changes designed to reflect current technologies and international best practices.
Key highlights include:
- revision of outdated standards to better align with today’s radio environment
- inclusion of new standards that support emerging technologies and applications
- coverage of previously unmandated products, leading to a more comprehensive compliance framework.
Together, these changes are designed to make compliance clearer for suppliers, improve spectrum efficiency, and encourage innovation, while also protecting users from harmful interference.
