How to become an Approved Radio Engineer or Certifier

You must be competent in the radio communication engineering industry to become an Approved Radio Engineer (ARE) or Certifier (ARC).

Approved Radio Certifiers and Engineers, also known as Approved Persons, have access to extra features in our Register of Radio Frequencies.

Approved persons can:

  • Certify radio licence applications.
  • Create planned radio licences in our Register of Radio Frequencies.
  • Use the Register data extract tools that enables searches of radio and spectrum licences.

Approved Radio Engineers can also certify spectrum licence applications.

Becoming an approved person can be a great accreditation to add to your toolkit and gives you extra value as an employee.

For individuals working in companies, it means they can now craft spectrum and radio licences in-house, saving money and the need for outside help. This is great for companies too, as it makes them more self-sufficient. For those not tied to a single company, becoming an approved person allows them to offer their expertise to various clients. Whether you're supporting your current employer or working with different clients, becoming an approved person sets you apart in the radio communication sector.

Please note only individuals, not businesses or corporations, can become approved radio certifiers or engineers.

We are always available to assist aspiring radio certifiers and engineers. We can guide you through the application process to ensure clarity and support at every step.
