Radio Spectrum Management plays its part in FIFA Women’s World Cup

RSM played a key role in the FIFA Women’s World Cup, working with organisers and broadcasters to manage radio spectrum and keep matches free from interference.

RSM The Radio Spectrum Management (RSM) Investigations team has had a very busy month supporting the FIFA Women’s World Cup Football tournament. The smooth running of games was the culmination of months of hard work by the RSM team. RSM worked closely with FIFA officials to explain the unique requirements of New Zealand's radio spectrum and facilitate the required frequencies needed by the FIFA team. 

Throughout the tournament, RSM's investigators attended matches at the New Zealand stadiums. RSM worked with the onsite FIFA Venue Spectrum Manager and onsite production personnel to detect unauthorized frequency usage. They also assisted with reports of radio interference or related issues to ensure that the spectrum remained interference-free, allowing FIFA matches to operate. 

RSM performed this specialised work as part of our involvement with MBIE Major Events. 

As the FIFA Women’s World Cup Football tournament concludes, RSM stands proud, having assisted with delivering the world’s largest women’s sporting event.
