Updated Radio Standards Notice released – what you need to know

On September 1, Radio Spectrum Management (RSM) released an updated Radio Standards Notice, an important step forward in ensuring New Zealand’s radio products meet modern compliance expectations.

This latest update introduces a range of changes designed to reflect current technologies and international best practices. Key highlights include:

  • revision of outdated standards to better align with today’s radio environment
  • inclusion of new standards that support emerging technologies and applications
  • coverage of previously unmandated products, ensuring a more comprehensive compliance framework.

Together, these changes are designed to make compliance clearer for suppliers, improve spectrum efficiency, and encourage innovation all while protecting users from harmful interference.

If you're a supplier, installer, or simply interested in how these updates might affect your equipment or operations, we encourage you to review the full notice and supporting materials available on our website:
