Trans-Tasman Treaty obligations

How does the Trans-Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement (TTMRA) affect the new arrangements?

Under the new arrangements, a product that is labelled with the RCM for supply into New Zealand will still generally be eligible for supply into Australia, and vice versa. Radio Spectrum Management is working closely with the ACMA to ensure the new regulatory arrangements in both New Zealand and Australia are consistent with each country’s obligations under the TTMRA.

Certain radio transmitter products are exempt from the TTMRA due to different spectrum frequency allocations between the two countries.

Will the RCM be accepted in New Zealand to indicate compliance with telecommunications requirements?

No. The RCM will not be a recognised mark in New Zealand for telecommunications requirements as those requirements are set and managed by the telecommunications service providers.
