SMART tip #10

Activate your client account in SMART

If a new client record has been set up for you in the online Register of Radio Frequencies (SMART), you will need to activate your client record to allow you access to SMART.

Follow the steps below to activate your account and create a logon. These same steps will apply if you add another user to an existing client record.

Note | you can click on any of the images below to expand to full screen size.

  1. You will receive an activation code by email once your client record has been added to the register in SMART. An example is shown below.

  1. Leave your email open so you can copy the Activation Code details.

    Go to SMART at www.rsm.govt.nz/smart.
     
  2. Select the Activate Account icon on the home page.

  1. The Activate User Account screen results.
  • Copy and paste the Activation Code from your email into the User Account Activate Code field as below.
  • Enter the email address your activation code was sent to into the Email Address field. If you enter a different email address your account will not validate.
  • Select Activate.

Note | Do not tick the “Yes, I have an existing MED User Name” box. If you do your account will not validate

  1. The User Details or Client Summary screen results with your details.

    Select Continue.

Note | If your details are incorrect, you can update your details once you have completed the activation process.

  1. The Logon Details screen results.
  • Select the hyperlinks at the bottom of the page to read both our Terms & Conditions and our Privacy Statement.
  • Complete the required fields marked with an asterisk*. The “Medsec email” address is the email address your activation code was sent to.
  • Select Save.

After completing step 6 you will receive an email advising you have been registered as a user. An example is shown below.

  1. The Complete User Account Creation screen results.

    Enter your User Name and Password and select Logon

  1. The following pop up screen gives you the opportunity to set up a direct debit payment option.
  • Tick the Yes button to set up a direct debit and then continue at step 9 below, or
  • Tick the No button if you do not want the direct debit option. Go to step 12 below.

Note | You can set up direct debit at a later date by adding the required bank account information to your client details.

  1. The Maintain Details screen results.
    Enter your bank account details and select Save

  1. A confirmation screen similar to the one below will result with your bank and email address details.

    Select Yes if correct to continue or,

    Select Modify if you need to correct the details.

    Select Continue.

Note
| A direct debit authority has been emailed. Please complete the direct debit authority as per the email/screen instructions.

  1. The Account Activation Complete screen results and you are logged on.

    Select Continue

  1. The SMART home page results. You are now ready to use SMART.

    When you have finished, select Logoff to exit SMART.

    Note | Your First name and Last name will appear at the top right of the screen exactly as you completed in the Logon Details screen in step 5 above.

  1. Please record your User Name and Password and store them in a safe place for future reference.
