A visit by Australia’s spectrum managers
Three managers (Field Operations, Compliance and Interference Management) from the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) visited RSM’s Auckland office for two days, 19 and 20 June, to discuss and compare New Zealand and Australian spectrum management operational processes.
It was interesting to note that these areas of the ACMA have followed a similar evolution to the RSM Compliance team, focusing on targeted risk management, and have achieved efficiencies reducing the number of field offices and staff.
Process comparison showed that Australia is using similar processes and equipment for interference management and transmitter measurements. The managers were particularly interested in RSM’s registration for the AS/NZS ISO9001 quality system, which covers all aspects of the licensing and compliance work.
Two of the ACMA Field Officers from their Melbourne and Parramatta offices have also visited and worked with the Auckland RSM team, for three days each.
The sharing of information with Radio Inspectors and comparison of vehicle, equipment and process choices shows that RSM is well positioned in comparison with a much larger organisation.
