Offer timings

As noted in the update of 23 February 2005, the engineering assessment for the UHF-TV spectrum licences to be offered for renewal in March 2005 is complete. However, this assessment has identified a few anomalies in the operation of current UHF-TV licences which require the Ministry to liaise with individual rightholders before offers can be finalised and distributed. The Ministry is currently contacting the affected rightholders to clarify these anomalies.

The release of the UHF-TV spectrum licence offers is still expected to occur in March 2005.

Minimum charge

A minimum charge for UHF-TV spectrum licence renewals of $2000 per licence has been agreed by the Minister of Communications. This minimum charge is designed to recover the engineering and administration costs for these spectrum licences on an equitable basis across all UHF-TV rightholders.
