Spectrum allocations for ultra wide band technology
Ultra Wide Band (UWB) is a new wireless technology developed to transmit large amounts of data over very short distances. Potential applications of UWB include but are not limited to high-speed wireless networking in the workplace or at home, imaging systems, and anti-collision vehicular radar.
The Ministry released an engineering discussion paper on spectrum allocations for UWB technology on 7 April 2005 for public comment.
To assist with the preparation of submissions, the Ministry also held seminars on 15 April 2005 (Auckland) and on 20 April 2005 (Wellington).
Submissions related to the discussion paper closed on 8 May 2005.
Summary of Submissions and Conclusions
This paper reviews the submissions received on the Engineering Discussion paper on Spectrum Allocations for Ultra Wide Band (UWB) Devices issued in April 2005.
Meeting Report of Task Group 1/8
The fifth meeting of the TG 1/8 was held in San Diego, USA from 17-27 May 2005.
An Engineering Discussion Paper on Spectrum Allocations for Ultra Wide Band Devices (April 2005)
This paper discusses appropriate technical standards and possible spectrum allocation options for UWB in New Zealand. It considers a range of issues for industry and other stakeholders to comment on.
Seminars
The Ministry has released an engineering discussion paper seeking submissions from the industry and stakeholders, on spectrum allocation and technical standards for UWB devices. In conjunction with this paper, the Ministry is planning to hold seminars in Auckland and Wellington to clarify and discuss issues raised.
