Realising the digital dividend
The Ministry of Economic Development held an industry workshop to outline the scope of present work, and to gather information about the so-called “digital dividend” spectrum.
The digital dividend is the term used for the radio frequency spectrum released when television services are operating in a fully digital environment. The more efficient digital technology allows spectrum to be re-allocated for other services.
The workshop was held at 1.30 pm on 14 May 2009.
The MED made a presentation on its work programme and current planning assumptions, and there was also opportunities for different industry perspectives to be presented. A Ministry scoping paper outlining key issues about the size, placement and future use of the digital dividend was published on the Ministry web site on 5 May.
The presentations made at the information gathering workshop are also available to view online.
