Narrow channel spacing
The Ministry is investigating the technical feasibility of using narrow channel spacing in the FM broadcast band.
A Request for Proposals for undertaking this work was issued by the Ministry in June 2007.
Work has been completed by Gibson Quai - AAS Pty Ltd an external engineering group based in Perth, Australia. This work provided the following reports:
- Criteria for 400 kHz Channelling
- 400 kHz Channelling FM Radio Planning for Auckland
- 400 kHz Channelling FM Radio Planning for Waikato
- 400 kHz Channelling FM Radio Planning for Manawatu
- 400 kHz Channelling FM Radio Planning for Timaru: Part 1
- 400 kHz Channelling FM Radio Planning for Timaru: Part 2
- 400 kHz Channelling FM Radio Planning for Timaru; Part 2 (Appendicies)
The Ministry is seeking feedback on the report entitled “Criteria for 400 kHz Channelling”. This feedback should be sent to: radiospectrum@med.govt.nz by 31 March 2008.
The Ministry will consider any policies relating to the use of narrow channel spacing after consideration of the feedback on the report and completion of suitable consultation.
