Executive Brief
An essential link in any broadcasting network is the transportation of programme material from the studio to the transmitter site. These links frequently use radio as the most appropriate technology to provide the necessary quality of service. Recent developments have increased the options available for studio to transmitter link design providing potential opportunity for the available spectrum to be used more appropriately.
This paper studies the current trends in studio to transmitter link spectrum usage and considers how these developments may be used to help accommodate new demands while maintaining the integrity of the current networks.
A number of questions are raised which industry is invited to comment on.
