Becoming an Approved Radio Examiner (ARX)
An individual or organisation can become an approved radio examiner (ARX) in one or more of the classes of operator certificates:
- Maritime General Operator's Certificate (MGOC)
- Maritime General Radiotelephone Operator's Certificate (MGROC)
- Maritime Restricted Operator's Certificate (MROC)
- NZ General Amateur Operator's Certificate
If you want to become an approved radio examiner, you must read the brochure PIB 45 (published as DRAFT for comment. Comment to peter.gray@med.govt.nz) and apply in writing by completing the Radio 14 form included.
Once granted Approved Examiner Status will remain in force until relinquished by the approved person or revoked by the Ministry.
Auditing of Approved Radio Examiners (ARX’s)?
The Ministry will ensure that ARX maintain competency, adherence to syllabi and examination procedures and comply with the requirements of PIB 46 by auditing the examiners at periods required. See PIB 45 (currently available in draft form) for further details.
