Radio spectrum annual administration fees 2008

There will be new annual administration fees payable under the Radiocommunications Regulations 2001 from 1 February 2008.

These changes were signalled through the consultation process of the cost allocation study published in 2006. The review of submissions is available on our website or by calling 0508 RSM INFO (0508 776 463).

The licence classes remain unchanged however RSM Engineering Certification Fees will no longer be prescribed in the Regulations. Most cross subsidies have been removed in the new fees.

A new choice: licensee interference investigation (LII)

This new option allows you the choice of managing your own interference investigation – and receiving an additional 10% discount on your Annual Administration Fee, when paid online.

LII is available through RSM by completing the online form.

LII requires you to accept full responsibility - including costs - for investigating any interference affecting your licences during your current licensing period.

If your investigation shows evidence of the interference being caused by the non-compliance of a third party, and a satisfactorily completed investigation report is provided to RSM, we will investigate compliance and undertake any necessary enforcement action.

You can choose your engineer

Our engineering certification framework is designed to offer you greater choice, flexibility, and value for money.

If you choose RSM to arrange the engineering certification of a new licence, or modify an existing licence, an Engineering Certification Fee will apply, but is separate from the Annual Administration Fee payable by all licensees. The engineering certification fee list is on our website.

You can also choose to have an Approved Radio Engineer (ARE) or an Approved Radio Certifier (ARC) undertake the engineering certification of your licence application – and possibly save yourself money.

A list of eligible AREs and ARCs is available so you can contact one directly to discuss their services and fees.

You can choose to pay your licence fees online

Renewing your licence online and paying by credit card or pre-arranged direct debit entitles you to a 10% discount on your Annual Administration Fees. Payment by direct debit can be arranged by emailing info@rsm.govt.nz or by calling 0508 RSM INFO (0508 776 463).

We have also enhanced our online renewal process to enable you to reconcile and review your licence offline before making payment online using SMART.

A tax invoice receipt will be generated and sent to you once you have paid the Annual Administration Fee.
