Information for RSM approved radio examiners (ARX)

This section contains information for approved radio examiners (ARX’s) to conduct examinations and grant operator certificates for maritime and amateur operator competence.

The examiner may also allocate callsigns in certain ranges for the maritime and amateur service. These are listed in Part B & C of the radio examiners manual.

PIB 46 Approved radio examiners manual – This document reflects the current practices and policies for ARX's and is the radio operator certificate and callsign rules.
PIB 47: Legal entities for the purposes of the Radiocommunications Act 1989 - information for ARX’s to identify a party's legal status. Radio operator certificates of competency can only be issued to “natural persons” under legal entity rules.
 

Auditing of Approved Radio Examiners (ARX’s)

RSM undertakes auditing of ARX’s to ensure their best practice and competency in the examination procedures comply with PIB 46 Approved radio examiners manual. This document outlines the RSM process for auditing of ARX’s.
 

Becoming an Approved Radio Examiner (ARX)

An individual can become an approved radio examiner (ARX) in one or more of the classes of operator certificates:

  • Maritime - Various classes of certificate
  • Amateur - Amatuer General Operator's Certificate

Once granted Approved Examiner status, the approval will remain in force until relinquished by the approved examiner or revoked by the Ministry.
