Mutual recognition of compliance mark in New Zealand and Australia

A significant bi-lateral initiative is the arrangement with Australia for Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Compliance of electrical and electronic products under the umbrella provisions of the Trans-Tasman Mutual Recognition Arrangement (TTMRA).

A C-tick or RCM labelled product meeting Australian EMC requirements automatically meets the EMC requirements for supply, distribution and sale in New Zealand. Reciprocal provisions apply to products supplied from New Zealand.

The MRA also applies to a wide range of radio products.

What compliance requirements apply in both countries?

An information booklet, Electromagnetic Compatibility - Information for Suppliers of Electrical and Electronic Products in Australia and New Zealand is available outlining requirements for suppliers of electrical and electronic products under the harmonised arrangements. Copies are also available free by calling 0508 RSM INFO (776 463).

Note that information in the booklet is provided for guidance. The current legal requirements are specified in the Compliance Notices.
